It was March of 2002 when I fell in love with this wonderful profession called Massage Therapy. I was working full time, going to massage school, and training for my first marathon. I was not a runner and hadn’t been in school in almost 20 years, but I took on the challenge of pushing my mind and body to the extreme (or at least extreme for myself). I believe having aching muscles while I was learning about the muscles in school helped me achieve an understanding that informs my massage practice to this day. I understand clients' bodies in part because I understand my own. Though it is years later and many things have changed—the medals for 2 full marathons and 2 half-marathons on the wall and numerous continuing education classes completed—I continue my deep respect for this profession.
I received my certification from the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) when I graduated from Ashmead School of Massage and maintain my credentials. I am also a member of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA). Working with Chiropractors and also in the Salon Industry has given me the opportunity to work with clients with varying activity levels, injuries, degrees of health, and lifestyles. Regardless of what brings someone to me for treatment—a sports injury, an auto accident, athletic training, a persistent headache, or everyday stress—each person who enters my treatment room receives my full attention from the beginning of the session. Initial communication is key to a successful session or series of sessions. Just like I strive to achieve my personal best, my professional goal is to help my clients live life to their personal best. |
